Lightwell

In the heart of La Défense, Lightwell transforms an office building constructed in 1986 into an open, light-filled and extensively landscaped complex. The refurbishment is organised around an internal street and a large atrium, bringing natural light deep into the building and encouraging interaction. Flexible workspaces are complemented by planted terraces, a rooftop, dining areas, a wellness centre and a business centre with a 200-seat modular auditorium.

The transformation makes extensive use of the existing structure: two-thirds of it has been retained, while demolished concrete and stone from the former façades have been reused or recycled. More than 85% of construction waste was also recovered. This low-carbon renovation strategy is combined with high energy and environmental performance targets, including HQE “Exceptional”, BREEAM “Excellent” and BBC-Effinergie Rénovation RT-40% certifications.
