Intercommunal aquatic centre
Aqua Ouest aims to provide a place to live, exercise and unwind for a wide variety of audiences: families, schools, clubs and employees of nearby companies. This intercommunal aquatic centre combines a wide range of uses: a sports pool, a leisure area, a spa & balneotherapy area, and a fitness zone and a solarium.
Designed as a square and oriented north-south to control natural light intake and energy consumption, it opens onto the wooded grove to the south of the plot.
The building’s identity is also shaped by its envelope: a perforated bluish metal skin that reproduces the moving patterns of water through different sizes and densities of perforations on the metal. These random patterns are called caustics.
