Le Quartz refurbishment

CulturalRefurbishmentConstruction economics

France’s leading national stage in terms of public attendance, the Quartz theatre, built in 1988, has regained its lustre through a refurbishment.

The architectural response rests on two principles: opening up and decompartmentalising, in order to make it a place open to the city of Brest, radiating outwards and inviting people in.

Its refurbishment is broad and has several aims: compliance and improved comfort in the Grand Théâtre, improvement of reception and conference spaces, improvement of technical circulation and staff working conditions, and finally structural interventions and optimisation of energy performance.

Programme: bringing the entire theatre, the conference area, the exhibition and catering spaces into safety and accessibility compliance. Restructuring of the reception spaces (hall, foyer, bar, exhibition, conferences), renovation of the main auditorium and reconfiguration of the entrance hall.
