Épinettes school and sociocultural facility

The reconstruction project for the Épinettes school group is being driven by the functional, capacity and thermal obsolescence of the existing facility. This programme is also an opportunity to create a sociocultural centre contributing to the renewal of the district.

MU architecte proposes a school-landscape, embedding the building in the site and wrapping it in the folds of the landscape. The sociocultural centre, emerging from the ground, protects the school from the immediate vicinity of the neighbours, while the school itself develops lower, in successive terraces.

The construction project meets a high environmental ambition through several approaches: HQE at excellent level, E3C2, BEPOS, low-carbon and bio-based building.

It is also designed to evolve easily: a post-and-beam structure facilitating future reconfiguration, and a configuration allowing for possible future extensions.
