Pierrefitte-sur-Seine

National Archives site

CulturalRefurbishmentConstruction economics

The extension of the National Archives at Pierrefitte-sur-Seine is sculpted as a noble and precious monolith, a casket for the resources it contains. The storage volume, the most imposing, presents a blank stone-clad façade. Its lower workshop volume is clad in metal and a screen-printed curtain wall on the north side, providing natural light and visual comfort for the occupants. The extension hosts an additional 100 linear km of archives in adapted climatic conditions, new document processing areas and restoration workshops. This high-rise building is connected via a multi-level walkway to the existing building, in order to manage functional connections efficiently.
